CULTURE CRAVINGS

So I've been spending weeks creating cocktails for my bar. This sounds great, but it's rough work drinking gin all day. Honestly, it is. If anyone is willing to be a taste tester for me, please let me know.

Anyway, since my bar is also a teahouse, I've been playing around with tea inspired cocktails. My absolute favorite has been my Matcha Gin Fizz (a.k.a. The Imperialist). It's bright enough for a...

In honor of Leslie Knope and female friendship everywhere, Happy Galentine's Day!!

Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day too.

Some of us love it, some of us hate it, and some of us don't give any forks (that's me). But one thing we can all get behind this February 14th is cocktails.

So to celebrate this Hallmark holiday, I'm making my famous blood orange margaritas. Nothing says Valentine...

When you have 2 lb. of leftover risotto, you make arancini. If you're not familiar with arancini, it's risotto balls, stuffed with cheese, and then deep fried to perfection. Need I say more?

I usually pan fry my arancini, but I got a sweet air fryer so I put it to the test.

Today's International Craving: Risotto

Risotto is one of my favorite Italian dishes to make at home. It's creamy, delicious, and only requires a few simple ingredients. Which makes it a perfect treat during a polar vortex when I can't leave the house and have very few supplies in my pantry.

People are often intimidated by risotto, but there's no need to be. It's actually quite easy to make. It just...

After my first trip to Spain, pan con tomate became a staple in my kitchen. It is one of the easiest, yet most delicious things to make. I eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and just as a snack throughout the day.

All you need is bread (preferably fresh bread like a baguette or ciabatta), tomatoes, olive oil, and kosher salt.

Every now and again I'll get the itch. I begin to feel stuck and start craving something new. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to just pack up and go every time I have the urge. So I come up with little ways to bring the world to me. I've hosted Spanish inspired brunches and epic Irish feasts, but on this particular Friday, the carbs and cocktails of France were calling my name. So I ran to th...

When I'm in the Detroit area, my favorite place to grab a veggie burger is at Vinsetta Garage in Berkley, MI. I have no idea what's in it, but it's forking delicious.

There is a specialty vegetarian burger at Vinsetta Garage known as the EV1, but I ordered it once and didn't care much for it. Luckily you can substitute the vegan patty in any burger.

I don't know why restaurants do this thing where t...

GUYS!!! This vegan döner from What the Pitta! is an absolute game changer. It is hands down the best vegan thing I've ever had. There's even tzatziki! I would have taken a better photo, but I was too hungry and it was too good. Plus Boxpark has red lights at night which makes photos nearly impossible.

For those of you that don't know what a döner is, it is a Turkish kebab. London is ...

--------------------------------------------  Vegetable Samosas and the East India Gimlet

I've heard amazing things about Dishoom, so I wanted it to be my first stop in London. Dishoom has multiple locations, but the closest one to me was in Covent Garden. When I arrived, it was an hour wait... in the cold rain. Cool. Great. Love this.

I had only gotten a few hours of sleep before I began my travels,...

When I'm trying to find the best restaurants in a city, I always go on Eater. They have yet to disappoint. I like to check out their "Essential Restaurants in (insert city here)" lists. Each restaurant is pinned on a map and you're given a description, photo, address, and link to their website.

I love the essentials list because they feature various cuisines at all different price lev...

Have you ever walked into an establishment and completely changed your persona? Like when I walk into nice restaurants, I pretend like I’m uber rich, yet sweet and humble. What has society done to me?

Anyway, I read in a magazine somewhere that a certain celebrity’s favorite eggs benedict was at The Wolseley in London. You don’t know this about me, but I’ve made it a personal mission to find the bes...
